-
Full mechanical servicing to the base vehicle manufacturer’s schedule -
Dealer-grade diagnostic equipment for engine, gearbox and braking system faults -
Leisure electrical fault-finding: batteries, inverters, solar and split charging -
Custom ECU remapping matched to your engine and the weight you carry -
Genuine and OEM-quality parts fitted as standard -
Honest pricing – no inflated dealer labour rates -
Easy to reach from Bournemouth, Poole, Ringwood, Verwood, Ferndown and Christchurch -
Rated 4.9 from over 200 Google reviews
MOTORHOME SERVICING IN WIMBORNE FULL MECHANICAL CARE
To make sure your vehicle is fully functional, our motorhome and campervan servicing covers every part of routine mechanical maintenance:
- Engine servicing: complete oil and filter changes, with fuel and air filter replacements at the intervals your base vehicle’s manufacturer sets.
- Brakes and suspension: brake inspection and maintenance plus suspension checks, which matter more on a vehicle that runs close to its maximum weight.
- Fluids and pre-trip checks: fluid top-ups and a full diagnostics health check, so you set off on a long trip knowing the vehicle is reliable.
We service to the base vehicle manufacturer’s schedule and update the digital service record where the manufacturer supports it, so your service history stays intact. Automatic motorhomes also benefit from a gearbox oil service at around 50,000 miles.
For chassis corrosion, our vehicle ice blasting cleans the underside back to bare metal, ready for inspection or rust protection.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION DIAGNOSTICS
Pinpointing fault codes, warning lights, sensor failures and performance issues on the engine and gearbox, using dealer-grade diagnostic equipment.
LEISURE ELECTRICAL FAULT-FINDING
Diagnosing leisure battery drain, inverter issues, solar panel integration and split-charging problems, so your batteries charge properly on the move and hold their charge in storage.
BRAKING SYSTEM TESTING
Detailed fault diagnosis for braking systems, including ABS warning lights. Essential on a heavy vehicle, and especially after a long spell in storage.
ECU REMAPPING
More torque at lower revs for hills and motorway slip roads, with a custom map matched to your engine and load. See our ECU remapping service.
GEARBOX OIL SERVICE
Recommended every 50,000 miles on automatic gearboxes. Fresh oil extends gearbox life and helps prevent costly transmission failures on a heavily loaded vehicle.
MOTORHOME DIAGNOSTICS – MAIN DEALER EQUIPMENT LOCAL GARAGE PRICES
Modern motorhomes rely heavily on complex electronic systems. Between the base vehicle’s engine management, gearbox, ABS and emissions systems and the leisure batteries, inverter and solar charging in the living area, there is a lot that can go wrong, and a generic code reader rarely shows the full picture.
Using specialist diagnostic equipment, we can identify and resolve issues quickly:
- Engine & transmission diagnostics: pinpointing fault codes, warning lights, sensor failures and performance issues.
- Electrical system troubleshooting: diagnosing leisure battery drainage, inverter issues, solar panel integration and split-charging problems.
- Component testing: detailed fault diagnosis for braking systems, including ABS faults.
If a warning light has come on before a trip, or a fault keeps coming back, our vehicle diagnostics service finds the root cause rather than guessing at parts.
COMMON MOTORHOME FAULTS WE FIX
Motorhomes live a different life to cars: long spells parked up, then heavy miles fully loaded. These are the faults we see most often:
DPF & EGR Blockages Diesel motorhomes that do short trips or stand for months can clog the diesel particulate filter and EGR valve, triggering warning lights and limp mode. We diagnose, clean, regenerate and replace as required.
AdBlue & Emissions Faults Euro 6 motorhomes use AdBlue. Heater, pump and sensor faults bring up countdown warnings that can stop the engine restarting, so they are worth catching before a trip, not during one.
Seized or Binding Brakes Brakes that sit unused over winter can corrode, seize or drag. We inspect, service and replace calipers, discs and pads before your first trip of the season.
Leisure Battery Drain Batteries that go flat in storage or won’t charge on the move usually point to a parasitic drain, a split-charge fault, or an inverter or solar problem. We trace it to the source.
Warning Lights & Sensor Failures Engine management, glow plug and ABS warnings are often down to a failed sensor. We read the codes, test the component and fix the fault rather than simply clearing the light.
Sluggish Performance When Loaded A heavy motorhome that struggles on hills and drinks fuel may simply be working hard for its weight. Once we have confirmed the engine is healthy, an ECU remap can restore pulling power.
We work on motorhomes and campervans built on all the common base vehicles, including:
- Coachbuilt & low-profile motorhomes: Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Relay, Ford Transit, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Iveco Daily, Renault Master
- Van conversions: Fiat Ducato, Citroën Relay, Peugeot Boxer, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, VW Crafter, Ford Transit
- Campervans: VW Transporter and California, Ford Transit Custom and Nugget, Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo, Renault Trafic
- Everyday vans: covered on our commercial vehicle servicing page

MOTORHOME ECU REMAPPING BUILT FOR TOURING
Motorhomes are heavy vehicles that often run close to their maximum payload, which leads to sluggish acceleration and poor fuel economy. Our custom ECU remapping service is designed to optimise your engine’s performance for touring:
- Increased torque: more pulling power at lower revs, making motorway slip roads and hill climbs effortless without constant downshifting.
- Improved fuel efficiency: optimised air-to-fuel ratios and smoother power delivery can improve overall fuel economy on long trips.
- Tailored maps: custom software adjustments matched to your vehicle’s engine and load requirements.
A remap improves how the engine performs; it does not change your vehicle’s legal weight limits. Send us your registration and we’ll give you before and after figures with a quotation.

MOTORHOME SERVICING FAQS
Yes. We service, diagnose and remap motorhomes and campervans built on all the common base vehicles, including the Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Relay, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ford Transit, Iveco Daily and VW Transporter. Our work covers the vehicle itself – engine, gearbox, brakes, suspension and electrics, including the leisure battery charging system.
No. We look after the base vehicle and its electrical charging systems. A habitation check covers the living area – gas, water, damp and appliances – and should be done by an approved habitation workshop. Many owners book both at the same time each year.
Most base vehicle manufacturers call for a service every 12 months or at a set mileage, whichever comes first. Motorhomes often cover low miles, but oil and brake fluid still age and brakes suffer from standing, so an annual service before the touring season is the sensible minimum. We’ll check your vehicle’s exact schedule when you book.
Not your base vehicle warranty. UK competition law (the Motor Vehicle Block Exemption) lets you use an independent garage, provided the service follows the manufacturer’s schedule with genuine or OEM-equivalent parts and is properly recorded. Your habitation warranty is separate and usually needs an annual habitation check at an approved workshop.
Yes, when it is done properly. We check the engine is healthy first and write a custom map matched to your engine and load. A remap does not change your vehicle’s plated weight or payload, and you should tell your insurer about it. See our ECU remapping page for more.
Yes. We diagnose leisure battery drain, split-charge and DC-DC charger faults, inverter problems and solar panel charging issues. They usually show up as batteries that go flat in storage or don’t charge while you drive.
Our workshop is on Woolsbridge Industrial Estate, Three Legged Cross, Wimborne, BH21 6SU. We look after motorhome and campervan owners across Dorset and Hampshire, including Bournemouth, Poole, Ringwood, Verwood, Ferndown, Christchurch, Fordingbridge and the New Forest.

As a nervous user of garages (due to past poor experiences), I was pleasantly surprised about the high level of service Rob Lang provided with our Mk6 golf GTD, which wouldn't start, and was marooned on our driveway. He had it recovered to his premises within hours, and his technician diagnosed and solved several electrical problems (synonymous with a car of this age) and some needing replacement parts, plus he gave it full service and MOT (and valet). We've had this car since new and were considering chopping it in, as you do when "old car" costs start mounting up. It now drives like when it was new and so will be reprieved. Rob then delivered the car to our house because we couldn't collect it for several days more. We can't thank him enough. I definitely recommend Lang's Automotive - his premises is professional looking - very clean and tidy with high tech equipment. His prices are fair and much better than a main dealer I suspect (and very importantly he kept us in the loop). He looks busy too which is always a good sign!! Thanks again Rob and your team, really very impressed!Posted on Google![]()

What a breath of fresh air! Having a problem with Audi RS6 suspension and when I called Rob Lang he booked me in same day to investigate. Although they was unable to fix the problem (hydraulic high pressure pipe burst - requiring a special Audi tool to repressurise the system) they identified the problem and also gave the car a good general inspection while it was up on the lift. All this and no charge! Super friendly, very knowledgeable and I will be happy to get future routine servicing done by Langs from now on.Posted on Google![]()

Having just purchased an Iveco Daily van That had a few issues that needed to be rectified. I used an Iveco dealership who surprisingly did not completely fix the problems. I met Rob and his team of experienced Engineers. I was extremely impressed by their knowledge and expertise. They have identified the cause of all the outstanding problems and are now involved in the process of sourcing parts to effect repairs. This is a company who know what they are doing from an engineering point of view and their customer service skills are top-notch. I would recommend them to anyone. Martin OlliverPosted on Google![]()

This is such a lovely business to be helped by. You cannot possibly go wrong by fully relying on their advice and guidance, with work that is second to none. This all comes from the top down. Rob is knowledgable and kind with this pervading through all the staff in his company. I was in a really tight spot with poor workmanship from another company, this was sorted out quickly and efficiently without any acromony and everything made perfect. All the stress was taken out of the siutation for me, which was invaluable. I cannot rate this company highly enough and recomend them to lots of friends and colleagues.Posted on Google![]()
